How do I even begin to describe this wedding… this one was different, to say the least. I think back to my initial meeting with Abhi and Neetu, where time flew and we chatted for almost 2hrs. Neetu had been in the audience for a Next-Day Edit we had done that summer, which included an epic prelude piece that involved filming in some amazing natural spots around Manitoba. It only seemed fitting then, with their wedding happening in Calgary, that we take advantage of some of what Alberta has to offer! And did we ever! Our first stop was Jasper National Park (yes, that’s about 4hrs out of Calgary). It didn’t matter. I had the opportunity to scout the National Parks last fall and took photos of each location for our couples to choose locations from and Abhi and Neetu loved what Jasper had to offer! That’s where we witnessed just how dedicated they were to go above and beyond to get not just the run-of-the-mill-willy-nilly footage, but instead to work for those incredible and stunningly romantic images that for the most part go well beyond most expectations of what a wedding film can or should be. Together, we climbed to the mountain’s summit and I think we all probably shed a pound or two doing so haha!

Our second stop was the Drumheller Badlands. It was actually Abhi who told me about the location and damn am I glad he did! It was the perfect complimentary location to Jasper, because of the fact that it’s illegal to fly a drone in any National Park. The badlands provided us with the opportunity to do some aerial cinematography for the couple. I’ll often get asked by my couples if they should wear formal wear or traditional Indian attire for the prelude film shoots. Personally, it’s a no-brainer; traditional Indian clothing is a must! In my opinion, it just jives so much more within nature’s beauty and there’s a such a romantic essence to that combination. I LOVE the image of Neetu’s chunni flowing in the wind!

The wedding week itself was filled with so many incredible moments, many of which can’t even begin to fit into this ten minute Next Day Edit. There’s moments you expect and then there’s moments that just happen and that you can’t predict, such as Abhi breaking down and embracing his brother at his Sangeet party or Neetu trying really hard to hold back tears during her Maiyan ceremony (and in the process making me and Sonya (photographer) get teary-eyed as well). Raw emotion provides the most priceless moments and it’s a big reason why we love what we do! I’m going to stop gushing now and let the Next Day Edit film do the rest of the talking. I’ll close by saying on behalf of our entire crew, we are extremely grateful that Abhi and Neetu chose us to capture their memories and for having such an unwavering faith in us and our ability. We wish them all the success and happiness as they journey south of the border for a new chapter in their lives together.
